Establishised the early 1980's MELSA Rockhampton still remains at its original site located at Rotary Park on the corner of Cambridge and Campbell streets,.South Rockhampton.
The club originally used a temporary track at the site before going on to lay the first of its permanent 3.5' & 5' Inch gauage track in 1982, which still remains today being the circle of test track no longer used for public running in the centre of the park.
From then on the public support grew along with the track layout with working bee's beginning at dawn and finishing up well after dark.
While in more recent years public support has dropped the club remains as strong as ever with recent on going projects.

The Club's Loco list holds more then 18 Steam, 2 Desiel, 1 Electirc as well as a 3' Traction engine. Many of these locos still can be seen regularly at the club on public run days, special bookings and events.
For many years now the club has held its Queens birthday interclub invitational weekend and has enjoyed great public support and generating much needed income to support the club finanical cost through out the years.
In past years the crowd have been known to number several thousand visitors over these weekends.
